VBSS stands for Visit, board, search, and seizure, which is the type of mission Aaron Frederick did for the US Navy. This type of maritime boarding work can ranges from capture of enemy vessels, combat terrorism, conduct customs, and to combat piracy and smuggling. This can be very dangerous work and you must be ready for anything.
Our particular custom VBSS here has a gorgeous Chad Nichols Black Out Damascus backspacer and harpoon shaped blade with unsharpened top edge. Diagonal file work starts on the thumb ramp and the pattern continues onto the backspacer. This adds a cohesive integration that works to give strength and visually bring the eyes from the blade onto the frame. Speaking oh which, is made of titanium with a bead-blasted purple anodized finish that helps tie together the Moku-Ti bolster and pocket clip. Tactical Lightning Strike carbon fiber scales have been carefully fitted up against the bolster and attached with small counter-sunk Torx screws. Like all of Aaron's work, this one is a notch above with well thought out engineering and excellent fit and finish.
