This Alan Folts prototype is one of two made. The Chival is a nice small folder with a raised back handle with a shape that conforms to the users palm. Extremely pretty rhododendron burl wood handle is a dark blue with green highlights and has in interesting pattern. The choice of Zirc for the bolster transitions perfectly to the Chad Nichols Damascus blade. This small every day carry model not only has a classy Damascus blade but a rare handle material as well. Brand new direct from Alan Folts.
The Blade: Chad Nichols Constitution pattern is very intricate and pleasure to look at. The Sheepsfoot blade shape is dominated by a raised swedge that drops back down before rising back up to create a raised thumb ramp. Strategically placed jimping on the ramp and on the bottom of the blade where the index finger sits gives the user control while cutting and inspires confidence. Attached dual thumb studs enables ambidextrous deployment and has been anodized blue to match the other titanium hardware.
The Handle: Zirconium is used for the backspacer and the bolster which mates up nicely to the exotic wood scales. Polished and anodized titanium liners ensure strength with one used as the lockbar. The liners are all anodized to compliment the wood and assembled with titanium hardware. The small and compact handle shape keeps the users fingers in the correct position for a comfortable fit in the hand and against the palm.
