Benchmade G10 Griptilian 551-1 Plain CPM-20CV

The Benchmade 551-1 Griptilian Gray G10 is the first of the regular production Griptilian to receive an upgraged G10 handle and premium stainless steel blade.  Tried, true and familiar in size and shape, the Large G10 Griptilian offers a non-slip textured handle combined with the patented Axis Lock mechanism to tackle everyday tasks, hunting and tactical applications.  Brand new direct from Benchmade Knives.

The Blade: Composed of CPM20CV, the blade has been ground to a modified drop point with plain edge and left uncoated for a working finish.  Excellent edge retention, toughness and corrosion resistance are the stand-outs of this steel.  Dual thumb studs allow for deployment of the blade in quick fashion and the Axis lock holds it firmly in place when opened.  

The Handle: While the upgraded blade will surely enthuse both collectors and users, the handle is the first of it's kind as well featuring the well-known diamond texturing for grip and comfort.  The simple ergonomics are the same as the original large Grip with only about an ounce of added weight from the G10 upgrade.  Gray G10 forms the outer with blue G10 accent liners and partial stainless liners to house the lock mechanism.  Open barrel spacer construction will provide for easy cleaning and good looks as well.  Handle size and mechanism functions lend themselves excellently for working in gloves when necessary.

Attached deep carry stainless steel clip can be reversed for right or left handed tip up carry making this knife truly ambidextrous.  

About CPM-20CV: A highly wear resistant, powder metallurgy stainless tool steel, the steel contains a large volume of extremely hard vanadium carbides which provide excellent wear resistance. CPM-20CV contains the highest amount of chromium of any high-vanadium stainless steel currently available. The chromium-rich matrix provides outstanding corrosion resistance.
