Details

The ESEE CL1 Cleaver is the first model in their Expat Knives series which are based on the designs by Expat, an active member of the ESEE forums. This outdoor cleaver is more than meets the eye. It may look intimidating and capable only of chopping, but really it's intended for so much more. Think of it as an outdoor utility cleaver.

Brand new product directly from ESEE Knives.

The Blade: The outdoor tool starts with a full tang of punishing 1095 tool steel coming in at 3/16" inches thick. It's then given a working stonewashed black oxide finish that you won't worry about tossing or dropping around the camp site. The interesting part of this blade is how they rounded off the edges as opposed to the typical squared-off cleaver style. This should offer the user a small amount of belly for roll cuts, rocking cuts and even skinning game. This bit of belly even offers some slicing capabilities as well. Firewood prep should also be a breeze with the CL1 featuring a welcomed inch of jimping on the spine for a gripped thumb ramp. A cut out of the state of Idaho in the upper corner is a nice touch that can be used to hang dry the knife.

The Handle: Removable black G-10 handle scales are contoured and comfortable. Their rounded edges won't wear on your hand with or without gloves. They have a fine medium texturing to them for grip in all environments. The length and girth, especially in the middle, allow for different positions on the handle and choking up for more controlled cutting. The steel tang extends past the G-10 into a flat hammer backup with lanyard hole.

The CL1 Cleaver ships in an ESEE box with a USA Made black leather sheath with strap button snap closure.
