Kershaw SpeedSafe assisted opening knives work with the assistance of a torsion bar. The torsion bar holds the blades closed until a gentle pressure is applied to the thumb stud or the flipper on the blade. After the tension holding the blade closed is released, the SpeedSafe action fully opens the knife into a locked position. The patented SpeedSafe assisted opening system is ideal for one handed opening and closing and can be found as a feature on many Kershaw knives, such as the Leek, Tyrade, and Blur to name a few.
