Luminox

The Luminox Watch Company was founded in 1989 by Barry Cohen. Barry designed the Luminox watch to fill the necessity of being able to see the time in the dark. He traveled to Switzerland to investigate a Swiss self-powered illumination system. The illumination system was adopted for the Luminox watches and is now known as Luminox Light Technology (LLT). Luminox Light Technology burns strong for 25 plus years without dimming. Luminox created their first dive model in 1993 to fill the need for a rugged sports watch. After the US Navy Seals heard of the dive watch, they requested a watch be made especially for the Navy SEALS to meet rigorous specifications. Luminox obliged and created the first Original US Navy SEALS dive watch. Luminox was also contacted by the US Air Force to create watches designed for pilots flying the F-117 Nighthawk stealth jets. Again, Luminox obliged and created a very successful aviation inspired series. The watch was an instant success with military and sportsman alike. Today, Luminox continues to produce their highly coveted Navy SEAL watches and have expanded with many different dial colors, their aviation line and other improvements.
