Details
This is the first-ever Microtech production upsized Sigil MK6 model for those wanting a larger blade at a super value. The new MK6 is about 10% larger than the original Sigil model, and the result is a much better feel in the hand. This version has an Apocalyptic finish handle and M390 blade with copper plate. Comes brand new direct from Microtech Knives.
The Blade: The blade of the Sigil MK6 is a long wharncliffe style with a pronounced hole and wonderful flipper action. It is sabre ground and honed to a razor edge and features plenty of jimping on the top of the spine. As expected, flipping action is smooth and consistent with the blade running on a ball bearings pivot system.
The Handle: Like most of Deryk Munroe's knives, this one has tons of detail in the handle with extra machining done to get the details just right. The 6AL4V titanium features the Apocalyptic stonewash finish and lightening pockets cutout from the insides. There is a copper plate to prevent lock overtravel, replaceable lock face and fully milled titanium clip all of which follow the knife's theme.
About M390: Bohler M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
