This custom Marfione Anax has a beadblasted frame and a San Mai Damascus blade.
The Microtech Anax is a newer integral design, complete with six pin construction and a patented lanyard system dubbed the Dragon's Tail. It's interesting name stems from a genus of dragonfly, where it gets many of its design cues. This particular knife has a San Mai Damascus blade with a long groove for easy opening. The handle has been completely contoured and chamfered, and has a replaceable lock face atop a thick titanium frame lock. The Anax has a milled titanium pocket clip with a silicon nitride ball bearing insert, allowing a super smooth feel when entering and leaving the pocket. Comes complete with box, Marfione custom zipper pouch, signed certificate of authenticity and removable dragon's tail lanyard.
About Integral Folders: Typically knives are built using two handle scales, seperated by a backspacer or barrel pins. With the integral design, a channel is milled for the blade, leaving the entire body as one piece (minus the lockbar). Built from one solid piece, the integral folder is one of the hardest designs to manufacture as even a minor error in tolerance would be completely noticeable by the user. The lockbar is attached seperate from the frame, as it would be impossible to bend it far enough to engage the blade fully due to the opposite scale. Only a few makers and manufacturers are using the integral design, and those that do are easily at the top of the industry.
