The design of the Higonokami Japanese friction folder dates back to 1896. This simple elegant design uses an extended tang to deploy the blade and assists in holding the blade in the open position. Tanto blade uses San Mai "White Paper Steel" for a super sharp edge. Stainless handle has a black finish and forms a trough for the blade to completely hide into and includes a small hole for a lanyard or necklace. Made in Japan.
About San Mai White Paper Steel: The steel itself is considered one of the most pure steels available and named for the color packaging the raw steel is delivered in, a Japanese tradition. It consists of a high percentage of carbon and chrome for improved edge retention and increased hardness.
