Details
The Reate Epoch is a mid-sized folder perfect for everyday tasks. Its shape is simple and ergonomic, with a single deep choil to give the user just enough control over the knife. As always the folks at Reate have paid attention to all the small details making this knife a total winner in our book.
The Blade: The Epoch has a modified drop point blade with a long upper swedge and suits itself well to a variety of cutting tasks. This upgraded version has a Draupner Damasteel blade, which rides on a sealed bearing system for smooth deployment and flipping action. Two stop pins defy tradition and ride inside a track cut into the top of the knife frame, hiding them from user view completely.
The Handle: Smooth titanium makes up the frame of the Epoch, with a single rounded piece of Mokuti inlayed down the center of the handle. Reate added an oversized backspacer with hidden lanyard attachment by milling a small amount of the frame to make way for this subtle but noticeable accent. They then sealed the deal by crafting a Mokuti pocket clip for carry. The Epoch has a rock solid lockup with a replaceable lock face, giving the user confidence that this knife will withstand a lifetime of use.
About Damasteel: Damasteel is pretty much the bee's knees when it comes to damascus steel. It is produced using a more modern process, and will generally contain fewer impurities and imperfections since it is made in a more controlled environment. The end result is a more defined and cleaner piece of damascus steel over traditional methods of manufacturing.
