Shun Ken Onion Knives

Shun Ken Onion knives were designed by famous knife maker, Ken Onion. When Ken Onion began the process of designing a kitchen knife, he wanted to create a knife that would work for any height of person and be ambidextrous. He first studied chefs on the Food Network and then worked with chefs and students at the Culinary Academy of the Pacific to educate himself on how people used their kitchen knives. The ideal kitchen knife would give perfect control vertically and horizontally while reducing tension in the forearm. Ken Onion designed an ergonomically friendly knife which could be used for hours at a time helping reduce physical discomfort while cooking. The Shun Ken Onion knives feature an angled bolster which extends over the spine of the blade and a curved handle to match the natural grip of the hand. The curve of the Shun Ken Onion blades is also unique as it maximizes the glide across the cutting board for tall or short people. In the end, Ken Onion created a set of kitchen knives which gave added control and comfort with Shun quality components and construction. Each knife features a 33 layer Clad VG-10 blade and pakka wood handle.
