The beloved Spyderco Military now comes with an upgraded S110V blade. This upgraded model is geared toward the everyday user and will hold an edge far longer than the original knife. To distinguish between the two variants Spyderco has changed the handle color to a dark blue-purple alongside other S110V models in its lineup.
The Blade: The blade of the Military has a full flat grind with satin finish and a razor sharp edge. Spyderco's trademarked round hole opener is present and creates a nice resting place for the users thumb when open. Everything glides with ease on two bronze washers, making this knife a pleasure to both open and close.
The Handle: While users are having a hard time deciding between blue and purple, Spyderco is marketing the new G10 as dark blue. In between these two pieces of material lie skeletonized stainless liners, which form the traditional liner lock for this knife. Everything is tied together with torx screw construction and a stainless steel tip down carry clip.
About S110V: CPM-S110V is produced by Crucible using the Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process. This process creates a very fine grained and dense steel with a uniform structure. This results in a super stainless steel offering some of the best edge retention and wear resistance available as it contains a high volume of vanadium carbides. The steel will hold an edge far longer than other stainless offerings, but may be harder to sharpen and will likely require diamond hones.
