This particular Sprint Run knife is based on the Spyderco Pingo design, with an upgraded titanium handle and Elmax blade. The handle has an attractive anodized Spyderco bug logo on both sides.
The Spyderco Pingo was developed to meet the needs of users living in areas with restrictive knife laws, particularly Denmark. Designed by two Denmark natives and knifemakers, both Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes partnered up to find an elegant solution. They came up with a design which allows the user to comfortably open and close the knife with two hands, using the trademark Spyderco hole opener to act as a sort of nail nick. The small design meets most length restrictions, and the ergonomic handle gives great control during use. Not wanting to worry about concealment laws, a reversible wire clip was added to make this knife friendly to both left and right handed users. This knife has no lock, and is a classic slip joint design.
About Sprint Runs: Each year Spyderco releases a limited number of Sprint run knives, with a variation on an established model. These knives are produced in limited quantities (usually 600 or 1200 pieces) and are highly sought after by collectors. This is a great way for users to purchase an out of production favorite, or a regular line item with a new twist. We recommend acting fast on these knives, as some models sell out fast!
