The Mini Bodega from Begg Knives is a pocket friendly flipper that works great as an everyday carry or fits in well with almost any collection. This knife is part of the Steelcraft Series, a mid-tech line Begg has outsourced thru a few reputable manufacturers. Heading up the Mini Bodega project is Reate, already well known for their quality and innovation in the knife world. The Steelcraft Mini Bodega easily fits in among the upper echelon of high quality production knives.
This particular model has a black finish with diamond texturing and gold anodized hardware. The blade is two tone finished with a black coating and satin flats. Knife comes new in box, direct from Begg Knives.
The Blade: The blade of the Mini Bodega is a pointy harpoon shaped spear point, with plenty of top jimping and a signature Begg flute which runs its entire length. Its surface is two tone, with a black coating and satin finished flats. Reate went with CPM-S35VN on this model, a good everyday steel which holds an excellent edge and has great corrosion resistance to boot. IKBS bearings serve as the pivot system for this knife, making it a pleasure to flip with extremely low drag on the blade. This knife comes razor sharp and ready to shave right out of the box.
The Handle: Hang onto your seats, because the handle of the Mini Bodega is loaded with detail. The scales are made from milled titanium, but things start to get pretty interesting when you look at the pattern cut into the surface. This particular knife has a diamond texture on both sides, with bright machined outlines around each area. The frame lock has also been highly machined to match, and has a flute which matches the blade flawlessly. It also includes a stainless steel lock face, with no stick or hassle when disengaging the blade. The backspacer is gold anodized with a checkered pattern down the back and also has some sweet iced jeweling on the inside. Anodized gold hardware holds everything together, and really sets off the look of this knife.
The Clip: We put the clip of the Bodega into a category all its own. Begg really pioneered the ball bearing clip, and we thought it deserved some due attention. The clip rests on two raised milled pieces from the handle, and is affixed with gold hardware. Its surface has been completely jeweled and a ceramic ball bearing makes everything glide in and out of the pocket with ease.
