The Boker Kalashnikov 74 automatic is a great budget friendly option as an entry point to the world of automatic knives. The flat ground blade deploys fast and smooth via the button lock operation and the aluminum handles are grooved for comfort and security.

Blade: Made from AUS 8, the fully flat ground blade is thin for excellent slicing and is corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen. A partially serrated section powers through rope and other fibrous materials. The button lock deploys this auto fast and smooth. This variant, the KALS74BKS, has a black coated blade with matching hardware and clip.

Handle: The black aluminum handles are tough yet light weight and feature scalloped finger groves that lock the knife securely in the hand. The black handle color paired with the black blade and hardware make this variant especially subdued. The handles have a random texture and contoured traction bumps that work in conjunction with the finger grooves for additional security. The button that deploys the blade doubles as a robust and worry free locking mechanism. The knife carries via a stainless steel deep carry clip set up for right hand, tip-up only carry.

AUS-8 Stainless Steel: is a high carbon, low chromium stainless steel produced by Aichi Steel Corporation, Japan. We've found it to have an excellent balance between toughness and strength. It offers good corrosion resistance and is capable of acquiring a razor sharp edge. It typically dulls faster than S30V, but has better edge retention than 440C. Sharpening should be a breeze. The "A" signifies that AUS-8 steel has been annealed after the steel has been cold rolled to relieve stress prior to heat treatment.
