Details
The Byrd Tern G-10 is a non locking Slipit slip joint pocket knife perfect for those who live in areas with strict folding knife laws. The Tern utilizes a notched-joint at the pivot that creates resistance while opening/closing much like a traditional slip joint folder. It comes in a liner-less G-10 handle with satin plain cutting edge blade.
Brand new product directly from Byrd and Spyderco Knives.
The Blade: Just over 2 inches of plain cutting edge on this leaf-shaped slicer. It opens on stops along the way before snapping fully into place along its bronze washer pivot. Once into place, the blade is solid and ready to cut. Its forward choil acts as a stop when your index in in place inhibiting the blade from closing when cutting. It's also a nice way to choke up for finer detailed tasks. The comet shaped hole opener allows for ambidextrous access.
The Handle: Liner-less black G-10 is lightly textured and smoothed around the edges for a comfy in hand feel. It also lightens the overall carry weight significantly without missing a step. Full torx construction rounded out with a reversible, tip up carry wire clip.
8Cr13MoV: Similar to Japanese AUS-8, 8Cr13MoV is a low carbon, high chromium stainless steel with an excellent balance of toughness and strength. It offers good corrosion resistance and is capable of acquiring a razor sharp edge. Edge holding is significantly lower than S30V but close to 440C. Sharpening should be a breeze.Specifications
