A tool for Doctor's in a time when house calls were the routine, the Doctor's Knife is traditional pattern from the turn of the century and was designed to aid doctor's in crushing pills into a powder form using the flat, squared bolster. The medication could then be added to a capsule, dissolved in liquid or mixed with food using the spatula blade as a combination scoop and stirring spoon. This version comes with beautiful and rugged Jigged Buffalo Horn covers and a single polished Tru-Sharp blade.
Brand new directly from W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co.
The Blade: The Tru-Sharp stainless steel blade is finished in a bright polish and equipped with a generous nail nick for opening. This version comes with a single Spear point blade with a shallow hollow grind for optimal slicing performance. The traditional Spatula blade is an antiquated tool and left off this version to reduce both the thickness and weight of the knife.
The Handle: Nickel Silver bolsters frame rugged Jigged Buffalo Horn covers fitted with brass pins to brass liners. The flat, square bolster on the end of this knife is a defining feature of the Doctor's Knife pattern. The front cover sports the timeless Oval Shield. A sturdy, stainless steel backspring offers simple, smooth slipjoint operation for use.
