Chad Nell Patton Flipper Moire TiMascus and Zirconium

This all-new Patton Flipper from maker Chad Nell is an exquisite representation of the art of knife making. The materials, design and execution on this piece is flawless. It will make a stunning example in any collection.

The Blade: Chad started with a nice, thick piece of premium CTS-XHP stainless steel produced by the Carpenter® Technology Corporation. He then ground it into a gorgeous drop-styled blade with harpoon upper swedge. The flats were left a horizontal brushed satin finish while the grinds received a clean high polishing for a real sophisticated look. This is a flipper opening model utilizing an encased ceramic bearings system pivot for some of the smoothest operation around. There is some light notching on the flipper tab, which doubles as a guard in the open position. Chad also executed some jimping on the spine for a short, comfortable thumb ramp. The blade is seated perfectly center in the closed position.

The Handle: Thick, blasted titanium liners create the solid base of this stout handle. Secured to these are the beautiful Moire TiMascus scales and Zirconium bolsters. Everything is smooth, contoured and fit perfectly for a comfortable grip. The clean, swirling colors in the TiMascus shine through as a perfect example of the material. The Zirc has a matte stone grey look and soft, light textured feel. All titanium hardware on this Patton adds security along with an expertly executed liner locking mechanism. Chad took some of that Moire TiMascus material and formed a floating backspacer out of it to ice the cake.

This custom Patton by Mr. Nell exudes a level of knife making not often found. It's tasteful, tactical, modern yet classy all in one package. It includes a tip up pocket clip crafted from more Moire TiMascus and ships in a C. Nell stitched zipper pouch.
