Details
This Umnumzaan tactical folder is outfitted with a hard-working CPM-S45VN drop point Blade. The size, shape and build of the Umnumzaan is proven and continues to be one of the most relied upon tactical knives in America.
Brand new, direct from Chris Reeve Knives, USA.
Blade: The Umnumzaan gives its user 3.5 inches of polished, shaving sharp cutting edge built from premium CPM-S45VN steel. This steel is tough, wear resistant and relatively easy to re-sharpen and maintain. It is hollow ground for supreme sharpness and fully stonewashed to hide daily use. A thumb ramp on the spine has perfect jimping, nearly an inch and perfect placement. A thumb scoop is cut out of the spine in front of the ramp to choke up on finer detailed cutting tasks. This version features a utility drop point style for tackling the toughest jobs. It operates via dual thumb lugs which double as the blade stop in the open position. Attached O-rings act as shock absorbers to cushion the impact of the lugs against the titanium handle. Lock up is always solid and reliable. When closed, a slight bit of the tang extends out of the handle. This tip has a slight grind on either side forming it into a point to function as a glass breaker.
Handle: Two thick slabs of titanium feature chamfered edges and machined grooves for an all-around comfortable grip. Ergonomics of the handle are spot on with comfortable places for fingers to rest. Both pieces are entirely sandblasted creating a matte grey appearance with very fine texturing. The grip is welcoming in the majority of medium to large hands. The Integral Frame Lock was created by Mr. Chris Reeve and continues to be a staple in the knife making industry. It's reliable, easy to use and virtually maintenance free. This one extends a bit lower than the show scale and given a machined groove for easy access. All titanium hardware comes standard on the Umnumzaan including the Silver barrel spacer and lanyard-attached spacer at the end. A CR lock bar stabilizer prevents over travel of the lock bar. The Umnumzaan also pioneered the Ceramic Ball-End Integral Lock mechanism now used on the Inkosi models. A ceramic ball creates the interface between the blade locking surface and the integral locking arm surface. The ball doubles to drop into a detent on the blade to ensure the blade does not open accidentally. Includes a single tube of fluorinated grease, LocTite, microfiber cloth, information packet and Allen wrench.
Carries via a tip up, right-hand only titanium pocket clip.
CPM S45VN: An evolution in the S30-series of steels from Crucible, S45VN shows improved edge retention and corrosion resistance relative to S35VN a slight reduction in toughness. Also considered an upgrade to Elmax with similar edge retention but better hardness, corrosion resistance, toughness, and a finer carbide structure (better sharpness).
