Designed as a modern take on the classic whittle pattern the Chuck Hawes Custom Wharncliffe Whittler delivers the classic robust slip joint folding knife with hand make precision and stunning looks. This custom piece has highly figured Desert Ironwood handle scales flush fit to Damascus bolsters with matching file worked back spring and a hand forged Modified Ladder pattern Damascus blade.

Brand new directly from Chuck Hawes, USA.

Blade: Hawes hand forged Damascus combines 180 layers of 1095 and 15n20 high carbon steels creating a unique, Modified Ladder pattern. With a generous nail nick the Whittler-style Wharncliffe blade is opened with ease and comes with a razor sharp convex grind. The straight edge and fine point are perfect for small wood working projects while the file work along the spine adds a custom feel. The blade opens with a pronounced half stop with strong Damascus back spring construction.

Handle: Hand forged Damascus steel bolsters are flush fit to the strikingly figured Desert Ironwood covers all supported by thick stainless liners. A full length Damascus back spring with custom file work rounds out the stylish swayback perfectly complementing the blade.

Hawes Ladder Damascus: A high quality, carbon steel Damascus, Chuck Hawes's custom Damascus is a folded, pattern welded steel made from simple 1095 high carbon steel and 15n20 band saw blade material. The steels are forge welded, folded and acid etched to achieve a unique layered pattern. Cutting performance will be similar to the carbon steels mentioned above. Care is required to prevent corrosion.
