Cold Steel SRK Black SK5 Fixed Blade 49LCK

The SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) black fixed blade by Cold Steel is a great mid-sized utility slicer popular amongst elite military operators and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Its size, shape and balance make it the perfect tool to throw in the camper or rucksack. The SRK is the standard issue knife of the Navy SEALs for their BUDs (Basic Underwater Demolition) training. 

Blade: This clip style is ideal for daily chores to backup use. It's built from hard-nosed SK-5 tool steel and given a lightly textured black Tuff-Ex finish for concealment and protection of the steel. The user can expect just over 5.5 inches of sharp cutting edge ready for work. 

The Handle: The Kray-Ex handle is dimple textured for a solid grip in any environment and includes an integral finger guard to protect the user's hand from the cutting edge. It should feel right at home in the majority of medium to large paws. A lanyard hole is built in to the bottom for personalizing. 

Each SRK ships in a Secure-Ex sheath with detachable belt loop for carry.

About SK5 Steel:  It is the Japanese equivalent to American 1080. It's hard steel that makes it create high quality blades and tools. Sk5 high carbon steel gives a knife the ability to cut through practically anything. It is very tough steel. It has a hardness of Rc 65. It produces a mixture of carbon rich martensite with a few un-dissolved carbides. This steel is essential to creating the perfect blades for your use. The extra carbide will increase the abrasion resistance and lets the steel attain an ideal balance of good blade toughness. It also gives excellent edge binding ability.
