Designed by Julio Diaz, the Balam knife is a large fixed blade that handles outdoor field work while being a more than capable combat tool. Durable full tang, 1075 carbon steel construction pairs with ergonomically contoured canvas Micarta scales for an efficiency chopping tool that you can use all day. The secure Kydex sheath offers convenience belt carry or can be strapped to a pack for backcountry for field use.

Blade: A drop point profile blade of tough 1075 carbon steel comes with polished satin flats and machine satin grinds with a tall secondary bevel for excellent slicing and chopping ability. A sub-3 mm blade thickness offers plenty of strength for chopping, handling everything from heavy grasses and light brush to saplings and small branches, making it ideal for trail clearing and camp work.

Handle: The full tang supports heavily contoured canvas Micarta scales for exceptional comfort and traction. Stainless pins attach the scales securely while the flared ends deliver optimal speed, leverage and grip retention during heavy chopping. A hollow pin allows for lanyard attachment.

Carries via a gray Kydex sheath with removable leather belt loop.

1075 Carbon Steel: A simple carbon steel used by production and custom knife makers. Low wear resistance (edge retention) due to low carbide content. Good toughness at lower hardness and easy to sharpen to a fine edge. Good performance when properly heat treated. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care.
