Head: Made from Hot Forged 1055 Carbon Tool Steel with black powder-coated finish for enhanced corrosion resistance. The wedge shaped head enhances splitting performance while the effective cutting edge increases the cutting efficiency while remaining nimble and accurate. A flat, hammer pole offers added utility for pounding in wooden stakes or wedges for larger timber.

Handle: A molded polypropylene and glass fiber handle makes the Black Powder hatchet durable yet lightweight enough for extended trips into the back country. The polymer handle also offer better insulation against cold for lower fatigue in harsh climates.
