CRKT Freyr Viking Axe Roush Design 2746
Details
Designed by Elmar Roush the Freyr Axe is inspired by traditional bearded axes of the Vikings. Named after the Norse God of prosperity and fair weather the Freyr is built to get you through the toughest situations. Carbon steel head and Hickory handle are classic elements of this chopping tool and proven in the field. Part of the Forged By War series, which employs combat veterans as designers, 10% of the CRKT net profits are donated to the veterans' charity of choice.
The Head: Made from Hot Forged 1055 Carbon Tool Steel with a passivization treatment of Magnesium Phosphate Coating for enhanced corrosion resistance. The large beard of the axe nearly doubles the cutting edge increasing the efficiency of the Freyr and provides a choil like area for choking up on the handle for detail work. The essence of it's Viking roots shine through while being enhanced through modern design and manufacturing.
The Handle: The Freyr has a finely crafted and ergonomic handle made from Tennessee Hickory Handle. Simple, durable and perfectly suited for this Nordic design.
