The new SwayTac Slipjoint folder from Curtiss Knives brings a traditional-style folding knife into the modern tactical realm. Lightweight, slim, sleek and easy to carry in the pocket best describes a traditional carry knife. David took those best elements and gave them a 21st Century spin.
The Blade: David chose damascus for this blade steel and crafted it into a sheep foot shape. This offers a nice, straight cutting edge for every day utility. It has a window cutout where a traditional nail nick pull would be for easy access to the blade. Simply place the thumb and index on either side and pull up. This piece has a strong Elmax back spring with a pronounced half stop.
The Handle: Ultra-modern titanium was chosen for the handle material on the Swaytac. David added a ball milled pattern to the titanium before giving it a dark, worn-in stonewashed finish. It's swooping shape is quite comfortable and reminiscent of many traditional folders. The cutout for blade access also makes a nice finger groove. Gold anodized hardware accents the piece.
