Compact and capable, the Dawson Deep Notch is a purpose built skinning knife with a big bellied blade and intuitive design that melts into the hand. Thanks to the small size, ergonomic design and Kydex pocket sheath, the Deep Notch lends itself to a variety of tasks. Dawson utilizes differentially heat treated American CPM 3V tool steel for exceptional toughness and solid edge retention, and a clear Cerakote coating for corrosion resistance. This version comes with layered blue and black G10 handle scales and Hamon blade finish.

Blade: For toughness and performance, the American CPM 3V blade comes in a classic drop point profile with a high hollow grind and recurve edge, perfectly suited to skinning tasks. Jimping at the tip gives control for fine work, while spine jimping near the handle gives traction for powerful cuts. A unique Hamon line delivers a classy look to this utilitarian blade.

Handle: Attached to the full tang over fiber liners the matte blasted G10 scales deliver a rock solid handle. A pinky hook pairs with the deep notch index choil, blasted texture and milled grooves for a very secure grip while the contoured edges are comfortable during extended use. Each knife is 100% hand made and includes a Certificate of Authenticity with spec sheet and serial number.

Sheath: Carries via a custom molded Kydex pocket sheath.

CPM-3V: A high carbon alloy steel that is extremely tough and has enough chromium to have some corrosion resistance. Care and maintain is required. High toughness translates to a stable edge that can be ground thin for enhanced performance. 3V has good edge retention, approaching VG-10 and CPM-154, with more than 3x the toughness.
