Tidioute Cutlery #46 Whaler 2 Blade Desert Ironwood
The Tidioute Cutlery #46 Whaler lives up to its name with a massive spear point primary blade that is just over three inches long and a whopping +1.5" wide! This knife is capable of some serious use and the back spring tension reflects this, being extra strong. This #46 has a second, pen blade for detail work and comes equipped with Desert Ironwood scales, a straight bar shield and brushed, nickel silver bolsters.
The #46 is brand new directly from Great Eastern Cutlery.
The Blades: Flat ground 1095 high carbon tool steel is tough and easy to sharpen to a razor edge. It is non-stainless so wipe clean and dry after use and reapply a thin coat of oil as needed to prevent corrosion. The massive Spear blade is capable of some heavy use with plenty of belly for skinning tasks. Thanks to the height of the blade you get a very thin edge that cuts like a boss. The secondary pen blade is a perfect size for more precise work while still being tough and functional.
The Handle:Beautifully figured Desert Ironwood scales are framed by beefy, brushed nickel silver bolsters and attached with brass pins to brass liners. The front scale is embellished with a straight bar shield. The coffin shaped handles offer a full and ergonomic grip with a reassuring heft in the hand.
