Great Eastern #71 Farm and Field Tool Bullnose Slip Joint Red Linen Micarta

The Farm and Field Tool family of knives built by Great Eastern Cutlery are USA made cutting tools known for their hard-working quality and affordable price point. Based on the classic sod buster, the 71 Bullnose work knife is no exception. With a single carbon steel blade, stainless liners, strong back spring and hand filling handles this knife is ready to get the job done. This version comes with red linen Micarta handle scales.

Blade: Backed by a strong back spring with half stop the blade has great walk and talk with a decisive snap. The utilitarian drop point skinner blade is the trademark of the Bullnose and is ideal for a variety of tasks. Flat ground and finished in a machined satin, the blade is etched with the Bull Nose logo and outfitted with a classic nail nick for opening. 1095 carbon steel is a perennial favorite and delivers time tested performance in the field. 

Handle: Thick, rugged red linen Micarta handle scales are pinned to stainless steel liners and secured with a brass lanyard tube, pins and steel pivot pin for a rock solid handle. The Micarta is chamfered for a comfortable, ergonomic feel and visually appealing look that still offers solid performance. A swell at the pommel end locks the knife in the grip for added safety in use along with the very strong slip joint back spring.

1095 High Carbon Steel: Highly popular, simple carbon steel. Used extensively by both production and custom knife makers. Low abrasive wear due to low carbide content but very tough and easy to sharpen. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care.
