Greg Lightfoot Custom Element Carbon Fiber Bolstered Green Micarta CPM-154 Flipper

Designed by tactical knife designer Jared Van Otterloo (JVO Design) and built by Canadian custom maker Greg Lightfoot, the Custom Element is a behemoth of a tactical liner lock flipper that is precision hand built by Greg. It offers an awesome blade, fast deployment and a tank-like construction that can handle some serious abuse. This "field grade" version comes with a satin finished CPM-154 blade, carbon fiber bolsters and green canvas Micarta scales.

Blade: Coming in at just under 3/16 of an inch thick, the beefy blade is made from tough, satin finished CPM-154 stainless steel. The asymmetrical harpoon swedge leaves more material at the tip for powerful piercing with a deep hollow grind that ends in a razor sharp edge that is nearly all belly except for a small recurve section near the handle. The Element is a monster slicer. The blade rides on a ball bearing pivot and deploys with authority via the index flipper tab.

Handle: The tank-like handle of the Element starts with thick, blasted titanium liners which support the carbon fiber bolsters and rugged Green Canvas Micarta handle scales. The handle has attractive, sweeping lines and is designed for a seriously secure grip. The flipper doubles as a guard when open with a deep index finger cutout along with a pommel swell and Persian-style down sweep lock the knife into the hand. The titanium liner lock is equipped with a hardened steel lock face insert for smooth, reliable operation for the life of the knife. Construction is completed with black coated titanium Torx hardware and a custom "6-shooter cylinder" pivot.

Carries via a right hand, tip-up, satin finished, milled titanium pocket clip. Ships in a padded S3 Hard Case with informational packet, Timberline multi-mount nylon sheath and shark's tooth lanyard.

CPM-154: CPM-154 is a particle metallurgy version of 154CM that benefits from the refinement in the PM process providing it with an increase in toughness and easy of finishing. CPM-154 takes a very fine edge and is highly corrosion resistant. Edge retention is going to be on-par with CPM S30V while being easier to resharpen. A great all-around blade steel.
