The full tang Sandvik 12C27 construction sports a convex Scandi grind for added strength and easy stropping touch ups with sanded curly birch handles for trademark Helle ergonomic comfort. The Utvaer takes your Helle knife experience to the next level.
Brand new, direct from Helle Knives.
Blade: Equipped with a razor sharp convex Scandinavian grind the full tang 12C27 stainless steel drop point blade is ready for heavy use from feather sticks to field work. The modified convex Scandi grind is rugged and easy to sharpen and maintain. The solid blade has less flex compared to laminated steel for added control.
Handle: Full tang construction adds some heft while retaining good balance and a reasonable weight for backcountry use. Sanded solid curly birchwood handle scales are warm and comfortable with plenty of style paired with complementary red fiber liners. Flared pins hold the scales fast and allow for lashing or lanyard attachment. A subtle guard and pommel swell offer a secure grip while the extended tang can be used for rough task like ferro rod striking, protecting the blade. As with all Helle knives, the exceptional quality makes this an heirloom piece you can pass down for generations.
Carries via a deep handstitched leather pouch sheath.
Sandvik 12C27: A modified AISI 420, Sandvik 12C27 has around 4 times the carbon for higher hardness. Thanks to a high purity and fine carbide microstructure, this steel delivers good corrosion resistance, high hardness and exceptional toughness, allowing for razor sharpness.
As with all natural materials these handles are unique. Appearance varies from piece to piece.
