Jason Guthrie Custom Scout Full Titanium Frame Lock Satin M390 Drop Point
South African gun smith, outdoorsman and custom knife maker Jason Guthrie made the Scout as a smaller, more every day carry friendly version of his Ranger folder. It has the same ‘Classic tactical’ design lines with refined construction, precision fit and finish, and premium materials. This version comes with a drop point, satin finished M390 blade and full titanium Reeve Integral frame lock construction with Guthrie tungsten Insert (GTI).
Brand new direct from JG Custom Knives.
Blade: A simple, flat ground drop point blade fits with the minimalist and utilitarian design while still having a high class feel thanks the the hand rubbed satin finish. The blade opens with silky smoothness thanks to tight tolerances and ultra smooth Teflon washers. Made from Bohler M390 stainless steel with a thin edge, this blade is going to deliver top-end cutting performance and worry free maintenance.
Handle: The clean, sweeping lines of the Scout make it visually appealing but the form is also functional. The ergonomics are superb and give the knife unparalleled security in-hand without the need for a large finger guard. The scoop on the spine places the thumb right over the pivot for increased power when cutting while the jimping delivers added security and traction. The classic Reeve Integral Lock is equipped with Mr. Guthrie's proprietary tungsten insert. The GTI is fitted into the lock face and is incredibly hard, 90 HRC on the Rockwell scale, reducing lock wear greatly. The GTI lock is guaranteed against any lock wear that will induce lock rock or vertical blade play from normal use. This version comes with contoured, full titanium handles with milled holes for weight reduction and traction.
Carries via a right hand, tip-up only titanium pocket clip.
Includes padded nylon zipper pouch, Certificate of Authenticity and information packet.
Bohler M390: M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
