John W. Smith Custom Fusion Satin S45VN Zirc Bolstered Westinghouse Micarta Folder 4775
John W. Smith is a tactical folding knife legend. His pieces can be hard to come by, and when they do come around they go fast! The reason: these custom pieces are a part of knife making history. Simple, refined, and flawlessly executed, a John W. Smith custom is a jewel in any collection. The Fusion is a tactical design with a more compact size for carry. This piece has a hand rubbed satin CPM-S45VN blade, zirconium bolsters and clip, jeweled and anodized titanium liners with matching hardware and ivory white Westinghouse paper Micarta scales with matching file worked back spacer.
Brand new, direct from John W. Smith.
Blade: Truly a thing of beauty, the flawless drop point blade comes with a long tactical swedge, hand rubbed satin finish and shallow hollow grind that will perform well if you can bear putting it to use. Phosphor bronze washers provide smooth operation with deployment via anodized stepped titanium thumb studs. The JWS logo comes etched on the base of the tang.
Handle: Anodized titanium liners and hardware complement the handsome, diamond textured antique Westinghouse Micarta scales and file worked back spacer which rides proud to the liners for a more contoured feel. Zirconium bolsters dovetailed to the scales provide a handsome look with custom appeal alongside the engine turned jeweling inside the liners. The simple liner lock delivers solid and secure lockup and is scalloped for traction in operation.
Carries via a right hand, milled zirconium pocket clip.
CPM-S45VN: An evolution in Crucible's S30-series, S45VN shows improved edge retention and corrosion resistance relative to S35VN and offers an upgrade to Elmax with better hardness, corrosion resistance, toughness, and sharpness with similar edge retention.
