Details

John W. Smith is a tactical folding knife legend. His pieces can be hard to come by, and when they do come around there isn't much hesitation. The reason is these custom pieces are a part of knife making history. Simple, purposeful, flawlessly executed. This F5 Flipper model is brand new direct from his son-in-law, Aaron Frederick.

The Blade: Pristine, custom made recurve spear point tactical blade shape with a clean upper swedge grind. John's customary hand rubbed satin finish and expertly even cutting edge grinds dance in the light. They are truly a thing of beauty to behold. Smooth opening action via an integral flipper tab that creates a fine finger guard when open. The initials JWS appear at the base of the tang. This blade rides on bronze washers and may take some slight wrist action to open.

The Handle: Soft, bronze anodized bead blasted titanium make up the liners, with one forming the solid lock up. The one that does lock has some custom notching to easily push the liner over and close the blade. On top are equally blasted/anodized titanium bolsters and copper wire lightning strike carbon fiber scales pair together nicely. The ergonomics on this one is off the charts comfortable. Notching on the butt end of the handle adds to the overall feel in-hand as well. All titanium hardware was used on this piece including a tip up carry pocket clip. A perfectly formed black micarta backspacer rounds out construction.

The blade seating in the closed position is well centered. Pick up a piece of tactical knife making history today!
