Kabar BK62 Becker Kephart Fixed Blade

The Ka-Bar BK62 Becker Kephart is a tribute to the original knife created by Horace Kephart, considered the grandfather of modern day American Bushcraft. Beautiful in its simplicity, the Kephart is made to the specifications taken from an original knife from the early 1900's. The Becker Kephart is made from high quality 1095 Chrome Vanadium with a tumbled finish and has bolt-on Walnut handles and a traditional leather belt sheath. A timeless classic that is fit for a collection but begs to be used.

Blade: The traditional Spear Point profile of the Kephart is maintained with a subtle top swedge and classic geometry that tapers to the spine and edge from the center. This delivers a well balanced blade that is durable while slicing exceptionally well. The 5 inch length lends it to a wide variety of task from finer wood work to splitting kindling for fire making. This is a multipurpose blade that is at home with a variety of tasks. Chrome Vanadium 1095 offers a good blend of properties well suited to an outdoor blade that will be heavily used. A modern stonewashed finish hides wear from use over time.

Handle: The full tang construction supports handsome American Walnut handle scales that have a smooth, but not too smooth, finish and a subtle swell near the blade that provides for a secure and comfortable grip in multiple positions.The scales are fastened with black oxide finished bolts for easy removal for cleaning and maintenance.

Sheath: Carries in a friction fit leather belt sheath.

1095 Chrome Vanadium Tool Steel: Highly popular, simple carbon steel enhanced with small amounts of Chrome and Vanadium added. Used extensively by both production and custom knife makers. Low abrasive wear due to low carbide content but very tough and easy to sharpen. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care.
