Medford Knives Slim Midi Tumbled Titanium CPM S35VN Frame Lock Folder

The Slim Midi delivers a hard use Medford build in a slimmed down design for an easier to carry, streamlined "dress" model. Enhancing the aesthetics are new button-head pivot screws and double grooved titanium handles. Overbuilt in typical Medford fashion this folder is surprisingly lightweight and an ideal all-around everyday carry. The Slim Midi comes sans breaker. This drop point version has a tumble finished titanium handle and with a matching CPM-S35VN blade.

Blade: The utilitarian drop point blade is made from 1/8" thick CPM-S35VN that has been tumbled and then ground with a mid-height hollow grind delivering a blade that pierces and slices with the best while retaining good durability. The thinner blade stock reduces the weight and thickness while enhancing cutting performance. The blade deploys smoothly on the phosphor bronze washer pivot and opens ambidextrously via the large blade fuller milling. A generous finger choil allows for optimal control of the blade for fine work.

Handle: Two 1/8" slabs of tumbled titanium form the handle. The front scale has stepped milling for index finger traction during use. The back scale forms the simple, robust, integral frame lock mechanism and both scales have a milled groove on the spine for weight reduction and enhanced in-hand feel. Open back construction makes for easy cleaning and reduces weight. The construction is completed with stainless steel hardware and a triangle hole provided for lanyard attachment. Both slabs and blade are marked with an individual serial number.

Carries via a right hand, tip-up only 3D Machined Titanium pocket clip. Includes an S3 Hard Case for transportation and storage.

CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V. The inclusion of Niobium allows for the formation of niobium carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides. Substituting niobium carbides for some vanadium carbides makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
