The UTX-85 (15% smaller than an Ultratech or 85% the size of one) dual action out the front automatic knife from Microtech makes an even friendlier every day carry option. This Tactical version has a black contoured handle, black hardware and 2-toned black/satin, partially serrated Drop Point M390 blade.

Blade: Equipped with a clever, 2-tone black satin finish, the drop point has a partially serrated cutting edge. The plain portion is razor sharp while the serration rip through fibrous materials with ease. The drop point is highly utilitarian and built from high performance, Bohler M390. Grinds, swedge and fullers are finished in black Cerakote with clean satin flats and spine. Cerakote is a durable, non-reflective, poly-ceramic coating that resists wear and corrosion. The 3.125 inch blade features a double action opening and retracting mechanism. Simply move the thumb slide on the side of the handle up to deploy and down to retract. An internal spring remains at rest in both the open and closed position to reduce wear. The action is smooth and fast.

Handle: Smooth, black coated 6061-T6 aluminum has improved rounded edges creating not only a comfortable feel in-hand but a smooth transition in and out of your pocket. There are several areas of machine-grooved texturing around the outsides aiding in grip. This lighter more ergonomic grip is easy on the hands and eyes. The handle's construction is completed with Microtech's proprietary Tactical Black hardware, glass breaker end and pocket clip with individual serial number/date of production.

Bohler M390: M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
