Custom knife maker Enrique Pena is known for his exceptionally well crafted and refined designs as well as the blending of traditional and modern elements. This Pena Knives Front Flipper Zulu is a perfect example and offers his custom design in a more affordable, production platform. This version comes with a satin finished, M390 blade, titanium bolsters and bolstered and Jigged Titanium handles.

Brand new, direct from manufacturer.

Blade: Following the pattern of a classic Zulu slip joint, this knife has a spear point blade with a modern front flipper tab for deployment. Made from premium, Bohler M390 stainless steel with a fine satin finish the blade has a nearly full flat grind with subtle top swedge. The grind and swedge offers excellent slicing and piercing performance for the modern user. It rides on a ceramic bearing pivot and hardened stainless steel washers for a reliably smooth deployment with a well dialed in ceramic detent for decisive deployment.

Handle: Sleek and modern in both form and function, the frame of the handle is formed by two thick titanium handle slabs which are milled to form the integral bolsters. The lower part of the handles are jigged for a traditional look and feel. Contoured for a comfortable, ergonomic grip the jigged titanium delivers good traction in the hand for a secure grip. The rear liner is cut into a reliable liner lock mechanism which is accessed via a cutout in the bolster and equipped with a hardened steel lock face for smooth, reliable operation for the life of the knife. Construction is rounded out with a titanium partial back spacer and satin Torx hardware.

Carries via a right hand, tip-up, 3D machined titanium pocket clip.

Bohler M390: Bohler M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
