Copper Moon of Rivendell

Description from Shire Post Mint

Minted during the rule of Elrond, the Rivendell (Imladris in Elvish Sindarin) the obverse of the Crescent Moon coin depicts the Rivendell valley, flanked by waterfalls, containing the ancient trees of silver and gold and the three Silmarils, represented as stars.

On the reverse, text inscribed in Tengwar reads, “Elrond Halfelven, Lord of Rivendell and of the Last Homely House East of the Sea, 2941”. TA 2941 is the year that Thorin Oakenshield and company meet Elrond at Rivendell before continuing on to The Lonely Mountain.

Varying metals of this coin distinguish their denominations: the Copper Moon is the smallest denomination, followed by the Silver Moon and the Golden Moon.

Coin artwork by Dylan Craig and Woody Maringer.

Minting process

Treated to look as if it has been handled and circulated, this process is done by hand, and it is both an art and a science, coloring and patinas will vary. No two are exactly the same.

Coins are struck one at a time in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques. A colorful description is included with history and facts about the coin.
