The Apex from Smith & Sons is at the top of the fixed blade food chain. Designed to be a multipurpose power house, the Apex functions as a field craft, hunting, self-defense and EDC cutting tool. The pistol grip handle design is intuitive and secure in the hand and allows for powerful leverage, while the compact harpoon blade offers a solid durability and  performance. Blade: A robust, full tang D2 tool Steel construction gives the Apex durability without sacrificing cutting performance thanks to a full height flat grind and harpoon swedge. A heavy stonewashed finish looks great and hides wear from use, while the scoop of the spine behind the harpoon tip makes for a great place to naturally index the thumb for added power during heavy work.

Handle: Layered Richlite paper composite (Micarta) scales are contoured for a comfortable grip with plenty of traction and a striking, organic look. The negative angle puts the point of the blade inline with the wrist for a more ergonomic design and allows for greater clearance of the fingers, enabling the Apex to be used for food prep. The Apex has a comfortable and hand filling handle design that is still compact and easy to carry. An installed paracord lanyard extends the handle and gives a solid anchor for drawing the knife for use.

Sheath: Includes a horizontal carry brown leather belt sheath with snap closure.

D2 Tool Steel: Used as a die cutting steel since WW II, D2 offers a good combination of hardness and wear resistance with moderate toughness and stain resistance. High chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) gives D2 better corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels.

Richlite Paper Composite: Richlite is a durable, versatile, and sustainable material made from resin-infused paper considered a premium surface material in aerospace, architecture and design. Layers of high quality custom craft paper create a unique surface texture from the natural variation in the paper fibers. Richlite’s color comes from a combination of the paper and amber toned resin and has a composition of approximately 65% FSC®-certified or recycled paper content and 35% phenolic resin.
