The 2016 "Overall American Made Knife of the Year" award-winning Spartan Harsey Folder is now available in a special edition satin rubbed black "Kraken" graphic. This version features a black PVD coated S45VN blade with an amazingly engraved handle: a black Kraken on the sea with a clipper ship engraved on a fine rubbed satin background. This collaborative effort features Bill Harsey's signature styling combined with premium materials and Spartan's precision fit & finish. Mid-large in size, the folder is very comfortable in-hand and ready for hard use.

Blade:  A classic, utilitarian drop point blade is made from CPM-S45VN with a top swedge and high saber grind for balanced performance and durability. Black PVD coated for a stealthy look that will hide everyday wear, look cool and provide non-reflective use. Riding on reliable bronze washers the blade deploys fast and smooth via dual blue titanium thumb studs. Aggressive jimping on the thumb ramp offers added traction and a point for indexing.

Handle: Ergonomic handles have been constructed from finely brushed satin 6AL4V titanium with detailed engraving. The show side has a black Kraken, clipper ship and ocean waves engraved on the front along with a "Spartan" engraved clip insert. On the reverse side engraved is a closeup of the Kraken on its own. Blue anodized titanium barrel spacers, hardware and oversize pivot bring the two pieces together. The back titanium slab forms an integral frame lock mechanism for reliable lock-up in hard use conditions with oversized pivot lockbar stabilizer.

Carries via a reversible, tip-up, anodized titanium pocket clip with Spartan Arrow embellishment.

CPM S45VN: An evolution in the S30-series of steels from Crucible, S45VN shows improved edge retention and corrosion resistance relative to S35VN a slight reduction in toughness. Also considered an upgrade to Elmax with similar edge retention but better hardness, corrosion resistance, toughness, and a finer carbide structure (better sharpness).
