The Spyderco Autonomy folder was built by request from the US Coast Guard to provide a quality cutting tool that excels in demanding situations and wet conditions. This award-winning design has been updated to offer a more wide-ranging cutting tool with the same bullet-proof build quality. The Autonomy 2 comes with a utilitarian leaf-shaped blade made from LC200N and a neutral-grip G-10 handle.

Blade: A utilitarian leaf-shaped blade design is made from satin finished and fully flat ground LC200N, a nitrogen steel which offers a high levels of edge retention and toughness while being nearly corrosion proof. The blade offers enhanced utility over the original with both excellent piercing and slicing performance. The blade is an out-the-side Automatic and deploys via an oversize button on the side of the handle. The blade deploys thanks to a unique coil spring mechanism that offers fast, reliable deployment. A small Trademark SpyderHole is the only embellishment on this workhorse Automatic.

Handle: Thick Black G-10 handle scales are moderately textured and secured to full length stainless liners via Torx screw construction. The handle lacks the finger grooves of the original for a more multi-use design while still offering a high level of security in the hand. The oversize firing button allows for decisive deployment in even the most cumbersome gloves and, along with all other metal hardware, is made of rustproof material. Deployment is powered by a corrosion-resistant coil spring housed in an oversize shroud that allows the mechanism to be serviced without dissembling the entire knife. The button lock operation also provides rock solid lock up for security in the most adverse conditions.

Carries via a reversible, stainless steel, tip-up pocket clip with through lanyard hole.

LC200N: LC200N is a high nitrogen, alloyed tool steel produced using PESR (pressurized electro-slag remelting) technology delivering a pure alloy with fine micro-structure. This steel has been used in knives for some time and even longer by NASA for ball bearings. LC200N offers excellent corrosion resistance, toughness and ease of sharpening with edge retention better than other steels with comparable qualities. Maximum working hardness in 60-62HRC range. Also sold as Cronidur 30 or Z-FiNit (Zapp Fine Grain Nitrogen steel).
