Blade: The full flat ground leaf shaped blade delivers excellent slicing and piercing performance with smooth, one hand operation via the ambidextrous Round Hole. A generous index choil and thumb ramp have jimping for traction offering optimal control for fine work. Polished 420J2 stainless cladding provides a striking look with faux hamon line and added toughness and corrosion resistance. The ZDP-189 core delivers high performance cutting while being easy to maintain.
Handle: Dual skeletonized stainless-steel liners support handsome carbon fiber scales while housing the blade and mid-back lock for a svelte yet sturdy design. Hitachi ZDP-189: A high carbon (3%), high chromium steel (20%) powder metallurgy steel. ZDP-189 offers very high hardness and carbide content with edge retention between S30V and M390. High carbon content leads to chromium being tied up in carbide formation making it non-stainless. Relatively easy to sharpen with low toughness.
