The Spyderco Native 5 Lightweight is an affordable and user friendly alternative to the original G10 version. Lightweight is the key word here, weighing in at only 2.5 ounces thanks to the linerless black FRN handles. The Native 5 is long heralded for it's size, shape and ergonomic design and makes a fantastic EDC for those all users.

Blade: Done in a spear point-style with slight upper swedge grind for all-around utility. It is tumble finished and features a full flat grind. Jimping on the spine and front choil make gripping the Native a pleasure. Familiar ambidextrous Spyderco Round Hole opener is good sized to accommodate even larger thumbs. The S30V blade delivers a good balance of performance and is ground with fine SpyderEdge serrations that make short work of fibrous materials like cloth and rope. A small section of plain edge at the tip is great for detail work.

Handle: Fiberglass reinforced nylon is a very tough, durable material. It makes the overall knife a lightweight for a reason. It won't weigh you down nor let you down. The classic Black FRN is equipped with Spyderco's Trademarked Bi-Directional texturing for a sure grip. The Native 5 has a lock back mechanism that is smooth, strong, easy to operate and ambidextrous.

Carries via a 4-Position, stainless steel hourglass pocket clip with through lanyard hole.

CPM-S30V: A martensitic, powdered stainless steel with high levels of wear and corrosion resistance. Its chemistry promotes the formation and even distribution of vanadium carbides, which are harder and more effective at cutting than chromium carbides. This gives it a very refined grain, further improving the sharpness and toughness. S30V is a great, all around steel with high levels of performance.
