This venerable design continues moving forward through Spyderco's Constant Quality Improvement or CQI process, combining the refined features of the fourth-generation Police 4 with the advantages of lightweight FRN handles. The ultimate in lightweight cutting performance, this version of the Police 4 lightweight comes with dark cyan blue FRN handles and a plain edge Bohler K390 MICROCLEAN tool steel blade.

Blade: Fully flat ground K390 tool steel is satin finished with a clean slicing plain edge for exceptional performance. This steel lends itself to thin, high-performance edges like the flat ground Police 4. The relatively thin 3 mm thickness and four inches of cutting edge make this blade a slicing machine. The blade has top-end edge retention with moderate toughness and some corrosion resistance for a non-stainless tool steel. A 14 mm Spyderco RoundHole allows for ambidextrous opening, and index and thumb jimping on the blade provide a very secure grip.

Handle: Supported by weight reducing skeletonized stainless-steel liners the durable Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon or FRN polymer scales offer tough, lightweight, and weather resistant performance. Bi-Directional texture molded into the scales provides exception traction in use. Time tested and tough, the mid-back lock pairs with the RoundHole making the knife fully ambidextrous.

Carries via a 4-position stainless-steel hourglass pocket clip.

Bohler K390: Bohler K390 is high wear tool steel made with 3rd Gen particle metallurgy processing developed to provide the extreme wear resistance and high compressive strength needed in industrial cutting, blanking, and punching operations. K390 offers very high level edge retention, comparable to 10V or S110V, with good toughness. Corrosion resistance is low, similar to M4.
