Spyderco Smock Top Flipper Blue Grooved G10 Putman Custom Scales

The Spyderco Smock bears the name of its custom designer Kevin Smock. Mr. Smock started as a knife modifier and moved gradually into custom design and production. This is the first collaboration between Smock and Spyderco and it exhibits his "Sci-Fi" style with functional design and Spyderco engineering. The Smock has some notable features such as top-flipper deployment and a button operated Compression Lock mechanism.

This version has been upgraded with Blue Grooved G10 Putman Custom Scales installed.

Blade:The modified Wharncliffe blade sports a razor-like, hollow saber grind in satin finished CPM S30V. This blade is durable while having fantastic slicing and piercing performance for every day use. The blade rides on a bearing pivot and deploys via a low-profile top flipper or the trademark Spyderco RoundHole. Jimping on the spine and an unusual index finger choil allow for fine control of the blade during use.

Handle:Inset stainless steel liners support Blue Grooved G10 scales for a custom look and feel as well as traction in the hand. A compression lock mechanism provides smooth and reliable lockup and is operated via an external button which allows for more intuitive disengagement with all the strength of the original. An open back construction allows for easy of cleaning and maintenance while the extra large lanyard hole rounds out the construction.

Carries via a reversible, tip-up stainless steel "hourglass" pocket clip.

CPM-S30V: A martensitic, powdered stainless steel with high levels of wear and corrosion resistance. Its chemistry promotes the formation and even distribution of vanadium carbides, which are harder and more effective at cutting than chromium carbides. This gives it a very refined grain, further improving the sharpness and toughness. S30V is a great, all around steel with high levels of performance.
