Details
Major Gustavus Ferdinand von Tempsky commissioned a number of Bowie knives to outfit the irregular rangers under his command for fighting in the New Zealand bush in the mid-1800s. The SVORD Von Tempsky Hawk embodies the spirit of this adventurer and makes a formidable utility and combat tool. This piece has a full tang blade of 8670 carbon steel with Wenge wood handle scales.
Brand new, direct from SVORD Knives.
Head: The ~7.5 mm full tang carbon steel head and tang make this hawk a hefty and durable tool, whether chopping or throwing. A satin finished convex edge offers powerful chopping performance with strop-friendly maintenance while the spike pole makes this a devastating combat tool. Forge finished flats are practical and appealing.
Handle: Dark Wenge hardwood handle scales come attached via strong Corby bolts to the full tang for a solid handle and safe, comfortable grip. A hole at the pommel allows lanyard attachment for added security.
Sheath: Carries via a leather drop loop belt sheath.
8670 Carbon Steel: Used for large, industrial circular saw blades, 8670 is a simple low-alloy carbon steel that takes a fine edge with high toughness. Low edge retention and corrosion resistance.
