Blade: The short drop point blade of the Micro Chef takes inspiration from Japanese Santoku kitchen knives. The Satin Finished D2 tool steel blade is fully flat ground to a very fine edge that provides excellent cutting performance. A gradual distal taper delivers a fine tip for piercing and detail work. The full tang construction is beautifully satin finished with the Krein Knives Logo and D2 marked on the blade. An integrated index guard pairs with the unique handle design for security in the hand.
Handle: Tan G10 handle scales are blasted and contoured for traction and comfort on the ergonomically designed handle. A center peak divides the two "finger cutout" sections of the handles while allow for a comfortable 3 or 4 finger grip depending on the users preference. The relatively neutral handle design is also comfortable in a variety of other grips in including those used with chef knives. The scales are attached via a single pin and hollow lanyard tube.
Sheath: Ships in a custom-fit black Kydex sheath with large Tek-Lok for carry.
D2 Tool Steel: D2 is a cold work tool steel that has been used as a die cutting steel since WW II. D2 has a high chromium content for a tool steel (10-13%) which gives it greater corrosion resistance than most high carbon steels making it semi-stainless. D2 offers a good combination of toughness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance for a good all around knife steel.
