Hatchets are useful outdoor tools for splitting smaller pieces of wood, chopping branches, limbs, and even small trees. More compact than an axe or chainsaw yet more effective than a large knife, the hatchet is an essential outdoor tool. Similar in size to the popular Hammer Hawk, the Ucon Hawk is lighter and made from TOPS' differentially heat treated 1095 carbon steel for enhanced edge retention. SureTouch G10 is a new material that mixes layers of G10 and rubber provide maximum grip on the classic handle design. The Ucon Hawk comes with a tumbled 1095 head and tang with Orange/Black SureTouch G10 over black canvas Micarta handles.

Head: Differentially heat treated 1095 is used for the head and full tang construction to deliver better cutting performance with solid durability. The Nordic inspired head has a long bead and sweeping cutting edge with pointed toe and heel. This design is very versatile, capable of handling hopping as well as fine work. Jimping on the hammer pole provides traction in use for enhanced utility.

Handle: The handle follows classic lines with a sweeping back and prominent end knob for comfortable and efficient swinging. Orange/Black SureTouch G10 has rubber layers for an exceptionally secure grip even when wet. Ergonomically contoured, the scales are attached over thick black canvas Micarta liners and offer a durable, weather resistant handle. The neck of the handle features a crowned tang front and back for comfort when gripping close to the head for fine work. Two holes at the end allow for lanyard attachment.

Sheath: Carries via a black leather belt loop dangler paired with a modular leather blade cover with snap retention.

1095 High Carbon Tool Steel: Highly popular, simple carbon steel. Used extensively by both production and custom knife makers. Low abrasive wear due to low carbide content but very tough and easy to sharpen. Not corrosion resistant and will rust without proper care. TOPS uses a differential heat treat that provides a harder edge with a tougher spine for optimal performance.
