Inspired by Jared Oeser's custom Native, French custom knife maker Sacha Thiel created his first slip joint, the Birdy, elaborating on Oeser's design. The sleek, stylish lines of the handle look and feel great, and the modified Wharncliffe blade gives the knife an aggressive appearance and functional performance. The Viper Hug is a high quality Italian production of this custom design. This version comes with a dark stonewashed Bohler M390 blade and matching bronze handles with contrasting "Stars" pattern milling.

Blade: Made from premium Bohler M390 stainless steel the modified Wharncliffe blade comes with a rugged dark stonewashed finish, crowned spine and aggressive swedge at the reverse Tanto point. The full flat grind slices with ease, tackling your daily tasks from package opening to apple slicing, and the piercing tip is ideal for any precision work. Bronze washers assure the slip joint blade opens with smooth, reliable action via the nail nick.

Handle: A crowned stainless steel back spring matches the spine of the blade and is fit securely between two slabs of contoured dark stonewashed bronze with contrasting starburst milling. The handle design provides a secure, comfortable grip with a nice heft in the hand from the solid bronze which will develop a natural patina over time. A hole at the pommel allows for lanyard attachment.

Carries in a stitched leather slip sheath. No pocket clip.

Bohler M390: Bohler M390 (analog to CPM-20CV and CTS-204P) is a premium powder metallurgy (PM) stainless steel with high level edge retention and corrosion resistance. A popular choice for high-end production and custom knives, M390 is relatively easy to sharpen, with toughness on par with 440C/154CM.
