Details
The Viper Fortis is a practical new flipper design from Jesper Voxnaes. It's flat handle offers excellent control in the hand with the flat ground blade providing great slicing ability for everyday chores. This particular model features a carbon fiber front side scale and a stonewashed finished blade.
The Blade: The Fortis has a flat ground blade made from Bohler M390 Microclean stainless steel. A sealed bearing system is present, allowing the blade to open smoothly via the provided flipper tab or thumb hole and rides on two stainless washers with a milled race to prevent internal wear. A razor edge hone is present on the Fortis right out of the box.
The Handle: The lockside of this knife is made from milled titanium, with a replaceable lockface attached to help prevent lock travel over time. It has been given a tumbled finish to mask pocket wear and has a solid titanium backspacer with lanyard hole and pocket clip attached. The front scale is made from carbon fiber and features smooth scoops and contours for a comfortable ergonomic grip.
About M390: Bohler M390 has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. M390 also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid problems by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Comparable steels are CTS-204P and Duratech 20CV.
